- Inhibits rust and corrosion
- Provides an impenetrable film barrier which protects against corrosion, even in severe outdoor applications. Resists heat, rain, snow, salt water and many corrosive industrial atmospheres.
- Protects for months
- One application normally protects outdoor surfaces for up to six months and indoor surfaces for a year or longer. Five to seven mil film protects outdoors up two years; indoors indefinitely.
- Transparent
- Allows colors and markings on protected surface to remain visible.
- Electrical Resistance
- Dry film has specific resistance similar to polyethylene. Resistant to galvanic (bimetallic) corrosion.
- Film will not crack, peel or sag from -40°F to 550°F (-46°C to 288°C). Resists degradation by sunlight during UV Stability prolonged exterior exposure.
- Displaces moisture
- Effective even when applied to damp surfaces. Creeps under the water to form a tightly-adherent bond to the base metal.
- Weldable
- Dried film does not support combustion.
- Self-Repairing
- Film of polar microscopic platlets form a unique “fish scale” structure. This dense layer of overlapping particles provides a virtually impenetrable moisture barrier, which is “self-repairing” when scratched or abraded.
- Easily removable
- Use safety solvent or emulsifiable solvent degreaser to remove coating quickly when desired.
DESCRIPTION
A ready-to-use aerosol protective agent which dries to form a thin, transparent, waxy film. Provides long-term, indoor or outdoor corrosion protection
for ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. Coating can be easily removed with a safety solvent or a solvent degreaser when desired. Use on pipes, chains, pumps, wire, cable, structural steel, equipment, parts and tools that are stored outdoors and indoors. Use on exposed metal surfaces of trucks, buses, cars, mobile homes, cabs, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, railroad cars and equipment, mining equipment, industrial machinery, nuts, bolts and ball bearings. Recommended for marine use on anchors, barges, ships, buoys, cables, tanks and piers. Ideal for protecting
equipment during overseas shipment. Wide municipal use on bridge structures, guard rails and street maintenance equipment. Allows safe exterior storage of iron, steel, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze and chrome. Bulk product is excellent as a release agent for concrete forms. ZEP IRONCLAD protects tools, nuts, bolts, chains, wires,
industrial machine parts, as well as marine, farm, mining,
drilling and construction equipment. There are thousands of
other uses where long lasting protection against rust and
corrosion is needed.
Inhibits Rust: Zep Ironclad provides an impenetrable barrier
which protects against rust even in severe outdoor conditions.
Resists Corrosive Elements: Zep Ironclad provides a
shield against heat, rain, snow, salt water, acid rain,
industrial fallout and many other corrosive sources.
Protects for Years: A single application of 1 to 2 mil
thickness protects parts stored outdoors up to 6 months and
those stored indoors up to a year. 5 to 7 mils protects up to 2
years outdoors; indefinitely indoors.
Transparent Film: Zep Ironclad allows colors and markings
on protected equipment and parts to remain visible for easy
identification.
Weldable: Surfaces coated with Zep Ironclad can be
welded; protective film does not support combustion.
Unlike other corrosion inhibitors, Zep Ironclad is created of
polar microscopic platelets which form a unique "fish scale"
structure. This dense layer of overlapping particles provides
a virtually impenetrable moisture barrier. Ironclad's unique
formulation provides a self repairing surface film. If the film is
scratched, Ironclad will flow to recoat the exposed area.
Zep Ironclad offers excellent electrical resistance and will not
chip, crack or peel.
